His Excellency Jakaya M. Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, planted tree on the grounds of Rideau Hall.

President Kikwete planted a bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa) along the main drive at Rideau Hall to commemorate his State visit to Canada.

Over 130 commemorative trees grace the grounds of Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General of Canada. They mark visits by members of the Royal Family, heads of State and other dignitaries. They also are planted for special anniversaries and at the end of a governor general’s mandate.
