Reception to Celebrate the Trans-Canada Trail and Its Founders on 24 September 2009
The Governor General hosted a reception at Rideau Hall, on September 24, 2009, to celebrate the Trans Canada Trail founders. When completed, the 21 500-kilometre trail will be the world’s longest recreational trail.

During the event, Valerie Pringle, Chair, announced the naming of the Trail’s pavilion in Calgary, Alberta after the late William (Bill) Pratt and the Trail pavilion in Gatineau, Quebec after Dr. Pierre Camu.

Many patrons and supporters, Board members, representatives of provincial and territorial trail organizations, volunteers and trail users attended the ceremony at Rideau Hall.

The event took place in the presence of Mr. Pierre Camu who was Chair of the Trans Canada Trail Foundation from 1992 to 1995.
