Closing Ceremony of Vigil 1914-1918 at the National War Memorial

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada, attended the closing ceremony of Vigil 1914-1918 honouring Canadian soldiers who died during the Great War. In their memory, the Governor General also layed a wreath on behalf of the people of Canada.

During Veterans' Week 2008, the names of the 68,000 Canadian soldiers who died during the Great War are projected on the National War Memorial in Ottawa from November 3 until the morning of November 11.

Militaries with lanterns were gathered near the National War Memorial as part of the closing ceremony of Vigil 1914-1918.

Vigil 1914-1918 is an event organized by Canada's National History Society.
