He is a leading authority on human vision and brain electrophysiology. Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology, co-director of the Human Performance in Space Laboratory at York University, and NSERC/CAE Industrial Research Professor of Vision and Aviation, he has conducted seminal research in these areas. His findings have led to numerous developments, including new diagnostic and screening tests for disease and developmental disorders, vocational tests in occupations requiring excellent sight, as well as new designs for flight simulators. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Proctor Medal and the Sir George William Dawson Medal.
