Dorothy Shaw is devoted to improving the health of women and children. Vice-president of the BC Women’s Hospital and professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of British Columbia, she is known as a collaborator, mentor and
leader in reproductive health and rights. As such, she served as president of national and international bodies in her field and as inaugural chair of the Canadian Network for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health. She is also a respected voice in the global effort to reduce maternal and newborn mortality and to improve access to health care for women.
