As Chairman, he is at the head of Upper Lakes Group Inc., a shipping company that introduced innovative ship designs and pioneered the development of large vessels with self-unloading capability. This technology provides for the more efficient handling of bulk cargo to clients with limited shoreline facilities. His activities in the industry have helped to maintain and develop merchant shipping in the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway. In addition, he is the founding director and a member of the Board of Governors of the Chamber of Maritime Commerce. (2)
