Arms of Christopher James EdgarBlazonSable a Canada lynx rampant within a tressure issuant from the outer edge thereof hop flowers stems inwards Argent; SymbolismBlack is for the idea of mystery, and for Mr. Edgar’s love of adventure and discovery. White symbolizes the northern climate and his enjoyment of winter sports. Together, they denote the battle between darkness and light, between good and evil, and thus represent his quest for serenity. The use of the rampant beast within a thin frame is a nod to the royal arms of Scotland, the country of Mr. Edgar’s ancestors. The hops indicate his many years of service building craft breweries in Ontario, which provided the foundation for the other businesses he has started. As a resourceful and discreet predator that thrives in harsh conditions, the Canada lynx represents Mr. Edgar’s entrepreneurship and his enjoyment of a quiet and private life. As a symbol of the Canadian outdoors, the lynx recalls his love of hunting and spending time in the woods. It also embodies many cat-like qualities he admires, such as playfulness and proficiency, loyalty and independence, carefulness and curiosity, and strength and agility. |

MottoBlazonLET US DO OR DEE; SymbolismMeaning “Let us do or die,” these Scots words conclude the patriotic song Scots Wha Hae, whose lyrics were written by Robert Burns, Mr. Edgar’s favourite poet. They are a reminder of his Scottish roots as well as of the importance he gives to doing things through to the end. |
