“My husband Jean-Daniel Lafond and I are deeply saddened by this tragic accident that took the life of Master Corporal Jeffrey Scott Walsh, of Shilo, Manitoba, who had just been deployed to Afghanistan.I know that Canadians everywhere stand together to offer comfort and support to Master Corporal Walsh’s family and friends as they grieve this terrible loss. We extend our deepest sympathies to them and pay tribute to his dedication to duty. Like all of our troops currently serving in Afghanistan, he was prepared and determined to face the trials and risks of this mission in the name of peace.”
