A pioneer in medical bioethics, he was the driving force in developing a program, unique in its scope and intensity, for residency training in this vital field. As president of the National Council of Bioethics in Human Experimentation, he has led this organization in developing one of the most effective policies on ethical conduct in medical and scientific research in Canada.
