On the morning of July 11, 1986, Mr. Pierre Alban Simard rescued his brother from an angry bull, near Chelmsford, Ontario. The victim had found his bull pawing at the ground near a fence, trying to join the neighbour's cattle. Afraid that the bull would break the fence, he decided to lead it to the barn. As he picked up the chain tied to the animal's neck, he was violently attacked and knocked to the ground. Unable to protect himself, he was hit by the bull several times. Pierre Simard, who had witnessed the accident from the farmhouse, immediately rushed to the scene, screaming and yelling to scare the animal. Facing the bull, he then tried to push it away, but was thrown to the ground. He resorted to kicking and beating the vicious animal to distract it from his brother; the bull responded by charging at him. Following his brother's instructions, Mr. Simard got hold of the chain and ran to the fence where he securely tied the animal to a post, then ran toward the house to pick up the car and inform the victim's wife of the accident. They then drove the man to the hospital where he was treated for a dislocated hip and a broken pelvis.
