Symbolism

The National Flag of Canada indicates the country, and the white border around it differentiates the King’s Harbour Master flag from the actual National Flag. The Royal Crown symbolizes service to the Sovereign. “K.H.M.” is the abbreviation for the office of King’s Harbour Master, a civilian employee of the Department of National Defence who is appointed as superintendent of a dockyard. “C.P.S.M.” is the equivalent French abbreviation.
