    The Governor General travelled to Poland to attend the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp Auschwitz.

    Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, travelled to Jerusalem from January 22 to 24, 2020, to attend the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, which marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

    Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation

    Ms. Assunta Di Lorenzo, Secretary to the Governor General and Herald Chancellor of Canada, presented the Governor General’s Academic All-Canadian Commendation for the 2018-2019 season to eight recipients during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

    The Governor General presented teachers and other outstanding Canadians with the 2019 Governor General’s History Awards during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.
