The Governor General travelled to Jerusalem to attend the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, which marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

In the morning, the Governor General met with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, and the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili.
In the afternoon she attended the Fifth World Holocaust Forum, which marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The commemoration event featured speeches from world leaders and a Holocaust survivor.
The event concluded with a memorial ceremony commemorating victims of the Holocaust by laying wreaths at the base of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising Monument in Warsaw Ghetto Square at Yad Vashem.
Upon her arrival on January 22 2020, Her Excellency, along with other heads of State and government representatives, attended a dinner hosted by Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel.

On her last day in Jerusalem, the Governor General met with His Excellency Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel. She also visited Jerusalem’s Old City to learn about its rich history and culture.
