OTTAWA, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, will present the 2025 Michener Awards during a ceremony at Rideau Hall on June 18, 2026.
The ceremony will include presentations of the following awards:
- The 2026 Michener-L. Richard O’Hagan Fellowship for Journalism Education (two recipients for one project) and the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Reporting (one recipient)
- The 2026 Michener-Baxter Award for Exceptional Service to Canadian Journalism (two recipients)
- The 2025 Michener Award (six finalists, one winner)

For more than 50 years, the Michener Awards have honoured outstanding and unbiased journalism that results in positive change for the public good. The Michener Awards and Fellowships are administered by the Michener Awards Foundation in partnership with the Rideau Hall Foundation.
