Governor General to celebrate excellence in public service journalism during Michener Awards ceremony

OTTAWA, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, will present the 2025 Michener Awards during a ceremony at Rideau Hall on June 18, 2026.

The ceremony will include presentations of the following awards:

  • The 2026 Michener-L. Richard O’Hagan Fellowship for Journalism Education (two recipients for one project) and the Michener-Deacon Fellowship for Investigative Reporting (one recipient)
  • The 2026 Michener-Baxter Award for Exceptional Service to Canadian Journalism (two recipients)
  • The 2025 Michener Award (six finalists, one winner)
