Governor General to present History Awards

Ottawa, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will present Canada’s top history honours to outstanding Canadians during a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

Created in 1996, the Governor General’s History Awards honour excellence in educational and public programming about our history and heritage. The awards celebrate the very best in Canadian achievements to ensure our national past has a vibrant presence in our society today.

The Governor General’s History Awards are administered by Canada’s National History Society, in partnership with the Canadian Historical Association and the Canadian Museums Association.
