Governor General to deliver remarks at the Governor General’s Innovation Awards Ceremony

OTTAWA, Ontario—Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, will deliver opening remarks at the Governor General’s Innovation Awards ceremony. These awards recognize and celebrate trailblazers who help shape our society and our future, and who inspire the next generation of innovators.

The recipients of the 2022 Governor General’s Innovation Awards are:

  • CarbonCure, for their work in the field of carbon dioxide removal technologies for the concrete industry
  • The Lipid Nanoparticles (LNP) systems project team, for developing technology that enables mRNA vaccines to fight against COVID-19
  • The ApplyBoard team, for their work in improving global access to education
  • Pirurvik Preschool – A Place to Grow, for its transformative early childhood education initiative that combines Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit customs) and Inungnuinniq (traditional education for Inuit children) using Montessori methods
  • The BrainBox AI team, for its use of artificial intelligence technology to optimize HVAC systems in real time
  • The team behind Desired Sensation Level (DSL), the world’s first paediatric hearing aid prescription.
