How do you stay safe at home… when you don’t have one? The real impact of the pandemic on the vulnerable

OTTAWA—As part of the innovative series highlighting exceptional Canadians across diverse areas of interest, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will host a virtual conversation with Cathy Crowe, a Canadian street nurse, educator, social justice activist and filmmaker specializing in advocacy on homelessness in Canada.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 1:30 p.m EDT. the discussion, entitled “How do you stay safe at home … when you don’t have one? The real impact of the pandemic on the vulnerable”, will focus on issues related to health, homelessness, affordable housing and how they have been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 30-minute discussion will be held in English.

Canadians are invited to submit their questions for the Governor General or Cathy Crowe via one of the Governor General’s social media platforms: Twitter, Instagram or Facebook @GGJuliePayette. Questions can also be submitted live during the conversation. We want to hear from you!

A French subtitled version of the recorded conversation will be posted online at a later date.
