The Citadelle, Saturday, October 5, 2013
Sharon and I are happy that all of you were able to join us here at the Citadelle today. Welcome!
This is an historic site and a wonderful gathering place for the community. I am proud as governor general to call this place in the City of Québec home, just as I am proud to invite all of you to discover the wonders and history of these grounds.
I would like to extend a special welcome to all of the organizations that are here today. Each one has helped to build stronger communities and to contribute to the well-being of Canadians. They have given back so much to our country, and I thank all of the representatives who are here today for sharing their own passions.
Throughout my life, I have been an advocate for physical activity and exercise. This is one of my own passions, and I am pleased to share that with you through the variety of activities available here today. I urge all of you to try your hand at something new. You never know when you might find a fun and enjoyable way to stay fit and healthy.
Finally, I hope that you will take the opportunity to tour the Residence, to ask questions about the artwork on display, and to find out how this place fits into the history of this great city.
Please enjoy the day!
