Message from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, on the Occasion of the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton

OTTAWA—Today, my wife, Sharon, and I are proud to represent all Canadians on the joyous occasion of the marriage of His Royal Highness Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton.

As a realm of the Commonwealth, Canada joins with the world in celebrating two hearts and souls coming together in the lasting bond of marriage. It is a time of great joy in our collective history.

Sharon and I extend our warmest wishes to the couple on this momentous day. We look forward with much anticipation to joining with Canadians in welcoming them on their first Royal Tour as newlyweds.

David Johnston
