"It was with great sadness that my husband, Jean-Daniel Lafond, and I learned that Sol, the beloved magician of words, has passed away. Marc Favreau, like no one else, made a joyous and singular contribution to the genius of the French language. Over the years he captured our hearts and opened our eyes. Sol used the power of words to combat human indifference. Needless to say, he never missed his target. Playing a satirically naïve tramp while dressed like a clown, a great poet spoke – and never failed to move us. His voice will be terribly missed. To all of his friends and family, we offer our deepest sympathies."
