Eleanor Fison Warren, Birtle, Manitoba (posthumous)
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Despite her many responsibilities as a farmer and widowed mother of four, Eleanor Warren has always found time to help others. For many years, she played the organ for St. Alban's Anglican Church in addition to supporting the Blenheim Remembrance Club, whose members sewed countless comforters for soldiers overseas. She is a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Birtle branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and has held most of the positions in the branch. She has also served the local school board, and has driven many seniors to bingos and other events in surrounding communities. Mrs. Warren has always given readily, expecting nothing in return.
