Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Since her arrival in Canada in 1972, Carolyn Swinson has dedicated her time to her community. For 14 years, she volunteered with the Centennial Infant and Child Centre in Toronto, working with physically or mentally challenged pre-schoolers. She is now National President of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada, which takes her across the country to speak to victims and politicians. She takes on speaking engagements at elementary and high schools to raise awareness among young people of this important issue. Mrs. Swinson is a strong advocate for victims of drunk driving.
