Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Anne Mary Heidgerken has been an active volunteer in her community and her church for four decades. She has organized and contributed supplies for a local farmers' market to raise money for medical and farming supplies for Central America and has served in many positions in the Catholic Women's League. By becoming a founding member of the local Amnesty International, Ten Days for Global Justice and Project Ploughshare groups, she continues to work to create awareness of world issues in the local community.
