Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
Annie Shwaluk has shown exceptional dedication to her community for nearly 70 years. An active member of her church since 1942, she has organized many church teas, dinners and wakes. She has also worked at the local bingo hall, fundraising for various charitable organizations for over 20 years. Mrs. Shwaluk goes out of her way to visit the sick in the hospital, and drives seniors to church, funerals and various events in the community. She shares produce from her own garden and has participated in the Meals on Wheels program. Mrs. Shwaluk also canvasses for numerous charities and helps at a senior citizens' home.
