Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

For more than 15 years, Brenda Wynne has been a dedicated volunteer for the Durham Board of Education spending every morning helping the teachers and students at her local public school. Mrs. Wynne photocopies documents, sets up activity centres and crafts, marks completed assignments, and creates reading and activity booklets. When the school has not had the needed craft supplies, she has personally provided them.
Mrs. Wynne also spends time with the children, helping them with their reading or arithmetic, arts and crafts, research and special projects. In addition, Mrs. Wynne volunteers her time in the afternoons when a teacher or a student needs extra help.
