A lifelong resident of the Kootenay area, Bill Stoochnoff has volunteered his time and expertise for many years to serve on community water boards, economic development commissions and planning commissions. He quietly spends many hours providing explanations and advice on proposed land use regulations and community development to individuals and groups, in order to establish a bridge between the Doukhobor community and local government. Mr. Stoochnoff takes the time to listen and to hear the concerns of all parties on a given issue, then works tirelessly to ensure that the matter is resolved to everyone's satisfaction. His efforts have helped develop a harmonious relationship between the Doukhobor and non-Doukhobor communities in the area.
