Governor General's Caring Canadian Award

Since Dicky Deumer came to Canada from Holland in 1952, she has donated her time and energy to a multitude of organizations and causes. She actively participates in the Campbellville Women's Institute's work with the Milton Seniors' Centre, Halton Women's Place and the Agricultural Museum. She has served on every committee and board of the Milton District Hospital, and continues to volunteer in Chronic Care and the gift shop. Mrs. Deumer canvasses for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Easter Seal Society. She also visits lonely, shut-in people for the Victorian Order of Nurses, participates in charity fashion shows, and is active in her church.
