Beverly Moore, North York, Ont.
Governor General's Caring Canadian Award
When Beverly Moore's young son was permanently disabled as the result of an accident, she helped create the Association for the Neurologically Disabled and served on its board and various committees for years, bringing services and programs previously available only in the United States to Canada. Mrs. Moore worked with other parents to establish Camp Banbury, a Saturday and summer activity program for children with disabilities, and Harmony Place, a day program that provides an opportunity for young disabled adults to socialize, practise communication skills and integrate into the community.
