    During his military career, John Cumberford was active in providing recreational facilities and swimming lessons to local children wherever he was posted. Since retiring, he has served as volunteer chairman of the Vancouver Branch of the St. John Ambulance. In addition, has given generously of his time and talents as President of the Vancouver Branch of the Federal Superannuates National Association, the ALS Society and his church.
