John Stothers has contributed to community improvement, boating safety and lifesaving through the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, Sail Parry Sound, Dunchurch Improvement Group and the West Parry Sound Fire Mutual Aid Association, among others. He organizes at least one sailing regatta each year, successfully creating interest in sailors to live, work and invest in the area.
