Kathleen Stanley has served the wider community in various capacities, including serving on the board of The Ottawa Hospital for nine years, during a difficult transition period; volunteering with the Eldercare Foundation of Ottawa and the Hospice May Court. Since 2012 she has given of her time to various committees within the National Capital Commission.
