A renowned expert in constitutional law, Barry Strayer holds a distinguished place in Canada's legal history. As assistant deputy minister of justice, he played an instrumental role in establishing the legal framework for the patriation of the Constitution of Canada, and is considered one of the principal writers of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
