She has contributed to the strong presence of pictorial art in Canada. She takes inspiration from the daily life, customs and folklore of Canada, and her works are a celebration of colour, exuding freshness and humour. They enrich our museums and many private collections, and enhance numerous books. Her unique style, a blend of the cultures of Japan and her adopted country, is taught in schools and universities in Canada and the United States. Her many achievements also include posters, screen prints, films and several exhibits.
