Franþoise Sullivan is considered a leading figure in contemporary art in Canada. This multidisciplinary artist has been creating works for over 60 years and continues to shine here at home and abroad. The work of this prolific painter has been shown in many exhibitions and retrospectives at various galleries, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Some of the choreographies she created nearly 60 years ago are still being performed overseas, which is a testament to the influence she has had on the world of dance. She continues to teach in the Department of Fine Arts at Concordia University, where she is a source of inspiration and an incredible mentor. Her work has garnered her various awards and honours, including the Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts and the Gershon Iskowitz Prize. This is a promotion within the Order.

This great woman of the arts is famous as a dancer, choreographer, painter and sculptor. She first became known as a pioneer in the field of modern dance in Canada. Her remarkable talent also extends into the areas of sculpture and painting. Her creations can be found in leading Canadian galleries, including the National Gallery of Canada, and have been the subject of many major exhibits in Canada and Europe. This artist, who sees the challenge of painting as conveying "presence," also shares her knowledge with students at Concordia University's Visual Arts Department.
