He is one of the most influential graphic designers in Canada's history. Advancing the concept of design as a marketing tool, he played a pivotal role in the development of graphic design as a profession. He co-founded Stewart & Morrison, the first Canadian-owned design firm, which grew to be international in stature. There, he guided the creation of corporate identities - many still in use today - for some of this country's most prominent businesses. In addition, he volunteered in leadership roles with many artistic organizations and professional associations.
