Well known and respected as a television host and journalist, she has become one of Vancouver's most dynamic civic leaders. As a city councillor, she translated her concern for children into a successful drive for Vancouver's first Office of the Child Advocate. As a volunteer, she has brought her determination and generosity of spirit to countless organizations, including the British Columbia Children's Hospital, the United Way and the Heart Foundation. Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade, she is also a director of numerous social service organizations and national companies. In the summer of 2001, she was appointed Chair of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Board of Directors.
