Dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for young Canadians, he has been a long-time Governor of the National Theatre School and worked extensively to introduce the Duke of Edinburgh's Award to Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition, he played a vital role in the development of walking trails and the rehabilitation of a major lake and river system in St. John's. This included the construction of the only public fluvarium in North America, a facility which is visited annually by more than 12,000 school children. Countless local, provincial and national non-profit organizations have benefited from his unstinting support and philanthropy.
