For nearly 25 years, this energetic conductor has directed the Orchestre symphonique de MontrÚal with vigour. His enormous talent has enabled him to inspire each of the musicians in this great orchestra, which is now world renowned. Under his direction, the orchestra has achieved an international reputation and, as well as performing weekly for the MontrÚal public, it is invited regularly to appears on the most prominent stages in Europe, Asia and the Americas, notably in the United States, at Carnegie Hall in New York. With the OSM, Charles Dutoit has also recorded over 85 discs which have won numerous national and international prizes. In addition, the concerts played in the summer in parks give the whole population access to music which it would otherwise never have known.
