He is a pioneer in the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. His development of surgical advances and musculoskeletal research have given mobility to tens of thousands of children, worldwide. Today, his procedure to correct congenitally deformed or diseased hips, and his discovery of the benefits of continuous passive motion to accelerate the healing of injured joints, are being used around the globe. As a professor at the University of Toronto, Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus or project director of the Research Institute at the Hospital for Sick Children, he has been respected by his peers and patients known as a great humanitarian. This is a promotion within the Order.
