Protector of Canada's heritage, founder of the Joliette art gallery and patron of the arts in general, he has long contributed to the preservation of our art works and culture through his vast knowledge in a number of artistic fields. This generous benefactor also supports a variety of cultural institutions, including the Montreal, Quebec City and Joliette museums. Through his personal involvement and financial assistance, he encourages organizations such as OXFAM, the United Way, the Ballets Jazz de MontrÚal and various foundations. His contribution to Canadian politics was equally remarkable and clearly illustrated the same sense of character and generosity.
