The pioneering work of this researcher in experimental physics, born in Berlin, has applied its research techniques to the study of archaeology. Her success has led to the establishment of a graduate course at the University of Toronto, where she is a professor of Metallurgy and Materials Science. A Quaker, she has been prominent in the promotion of peace, international understanding, the role of women and the "conserver society".
