An Anglican minister, he has served exclusively in the Northwest Territories where he has combined his ecclesiastical duties with vigorous athletic activities. He has participated in numerous Arctic marathons and his sense of adventure and eagerness to accept new challenges have made him an apt member of various expeditions, including the successful Soviet-Canadian Polar Bridge Expedition of 1988.
