He has served his country with distinction in peace and in war for close to five decades. During his most successful parliamentary career, crowned by his service as an innovative and much-respected Minister of Veterans Affairs, he brought many positive changes to the portfolio to the benefit of thousands of Canadians, especially veterans and their dependents. In the same spirit of public service, he is now Ambassador-at-large for the Food Aid Program of C.I.D.A.
