In 1975, the leader of the "Crazy Canucks" became the first Canadian and North American male to win a World Cup Downhill skiing event and he has continued his involvement with skiing as a broadcaster and consultant since his retirement from competition in 1984. A Vice-President for the Canadian Olympic Association and a member of the International Olympic Committee, he was actively involved in the Calgary Olympics in 1988 and is Chef de Mission for the Canadian Olympic Team to Barcelona in 1992.
