This eminent surgeon and oncologist from the Québec City area has contributed greatly to the improvement of the care of cancer patients. While working tirelessly to have oncology recognized as a medical specialty and to have a teaching programme introduced in this field, he serves as administrator of the "Maison Michel Sarrazin", one of the first private hospitals in Canada devoted to the care of terminally-ill cancer patients, which has served as the prototype for many similar institutions both here and abroad.
