For over 30 years, he has been an ambassador for the City of Saskatoon. Through his many volunteer leadership roles, he has been an enthusiastic organizer of local, national and international events. He was a key figure in attracting and staging amateur sporting events such as the Western Canada Summer Games for Youth and the World Junior Hockey Championships, and in bidding for events such as the World University Summer Games in 2007. He has given generously of his time and talents to many provincial and regional non-profit groups, and continues his community involvement, in particular as Chair of the James P. Mahoney Institute of the Family.
