as head of visual arts in cultural services at the Canadian embassy in Paris, and director of the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery in Toronto. As deputy director for art at the Brooklyn Museum, he highlighted feminist and African American art, and during his tenure as executive director of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, he established the Quebec Triennial. Former CEO of the National Gallery of Canada, he reinvented the space for Indigenous art, photography and contemporary art, and oversaw major international exhibitions, emphasizing co-operation and sharing.
