At the forefront of lithium-ion battery developments, Jeff Dahn is contributing to the advancement of green technology. A professor and researcher at Dalhousie University, he has helped design transformative lifespan measurement tools, and co-invented some grades of nickel manganese cobalt used in li-ion batteries worldwide, notably in cellphones and electric vehicles. Through industry partnerships, including one-of-a-kind alliances with 3M and Tesla, he is helping to optimize battery efficiency while reducing production costs, thus fostering a low-carbon economy. A revered consultant and mentor, he supports material scientists at all levels, from first-year physics to postdoctoral research and beyond.
