Internationally renowned cardiologist and founder in 1954 of the Montreal Heart Institute, where he went on to become the director general, medical director and director of professional services. The Institute was Canada's first and only free-standing heart centre, a distinction it retains today. Under Dr. David's guidance, it is now renowned the world over for the care it dispenses, its teaching facilities, its research and, in particular, its coronary bypass techniques, implanting of pacemakers and valve replacement surgery. (This is a promotion within the Order).
