Dr. Feindel's work has done much to keep Canada in the forefront of neurosurgery. Trained in Canada and at Oxford, he joined the Montreal Neurological Institute under Dr. Wilder Penfield. After a period in Saskatchewan, during which he introduced Canada's first radioactive brain scanner, he returned to the Institute to become its director in 1972. In his work on the causes and treatment of focal epilepsy, and the detection of tumours and strokes, he has made important discoveries about circulation in the brain and the treatment of blood-vessel disorders and devised the PET technique of brain imagery.
